John Henry

Captain John Henry was born in S.C. and was the son of an Irishman who migrated to that state in the last century. John Henry served in the War of the Revolution, was captain of a company in the American army and fought at the Battle of Cowpens, where he was made a prisoner and was afterwards exchanged. He also fought at Kings Mountain with Distinction. He died in North Carolina about 1835. There is a monument to him on Jonathon's Creek near Waynesville, N.C.
