Robert Andrew McClain, is cited in several different Revolutionary War pension applications 
by men who served under him when he was a captain of North Carolina Militia in the 
Revolutionary War.

One of his daughters, Mary McClain, married Leonard Boone Elledge, the son of Charity Boone 
and Francis Elledge. Charity was the daughter of Edward "Ned" Boone.

Robert McClain was commissioner in 1784, High Sheriff of Randolph Co., NC.  He also was a 
captain, then major of NC militia in the Revolutionary War and fought at the Battle of Camden, SC.
