Born 3 March, l831 in Monroe, NC. Married Ellen Austin 31 Oct, l850. Died 7 April 1899 in Monroe, NC. Father was Nathaniel BIVENS, Jr. Mother was Margaret JAMES. He had seven brothers who all fought in the Revolution.
