My grandfather's (Joseph Brantley Dunn) report suggests Thomas Cadet Young served first 
as a captain, in Virginia, under Colonel Prockett, then as a colonel and commissary general  
for North Carolina troops under General Marion in the upper Piedmont region of North Carolina. 
 
His household is listed in the Federal census of 1790 for Salisburg District, Iredell County.
