Col. Duncan Ray, from Anson County

Ray led a regiment of North Carolina militia from Anson county that served at Wilmington throughout most 
of 1781. He led the defeated loyalist’s at Beattie’s Bridge in early August 1781, and was one of those 
routed at Raft Swamp in mid October.
