Alexander Patterson, Sr. served in the American Revolution and on the payroll of Capt. Samuel Reid, 
August 9, 1780.  He received two gold buttons from George Washington.  They were donated to 
Cabarrus County.  He is buried in Barberick Family Graveyard in northern Cabarrus county.
