John Owen, Jr. assisted in establishing American Independance while serving in the 
capacity of Lt. and Capt. in the 5th Regt. from Granville County, NC. He was born in 
Henrico Co., VA---married Amelia Grant  in Granville Co., NC---and died in Wythe 
County, NC.
